As frightening as hilarious. Once again Cracked picks on the socially inept.
PathetiCon: 8 Geek Conventions God Never Intended
Conventions (or "cons") have been a staple of the fanboy scene for ages, from generic sci-fi cons to Star Trek cons to cons that celebrate anime and computer games. It seems that no matter what kind of geek you are, someone's always trying to get you to creep out into direct sunlight and share your passion, at least for a few hours.
But there are those who take the concept to a whole new, frightening level:

Installing software can be a pain in the butt but it gives me something that I rarely find at work or home: free time. In that time I like to sit back and think. I think about problems at work, I think about things I'd like to do when I'm home. I think about the inane and off the wall things that not only give my mind a break but also help to spawn new ideas.
For me freethinking is not just productive, it's also a great stress reducer. I find that I'm able to not only solve problems but also prioritize and analyze whether things are really a problem in the first place. Over the years I've found that, upon further investigation, many of life's little problems are really opportunities in disguise.

Due to family commitments I was unable to make the annual party but I'm happy to say that I've secured my spot and fully prepared for the remainder of the event. Despite my absence I've spoken with the PLM crew and the party continues, albeit on a somewhat down note. I did manage to fire up my own grill today and to enjoy the Radio Le Mans coverage while hanging out on the porch with the new "big sister". She was more than happy to help me paint our affiliation on the front driveway, though I doubt non-Corvette Racing fans will recognize the Bad Boy Vette logo.

It was bound to happen, but did it have to happen so quickly? This morning after dropping my daughter at daycare I had an unfortunate run-in with a small deer. After no more than 24 hours back on the road the Passat is once again in the shop though thankfully under the wrench of another, more skilled, crash repair expert.
I still need to take the car to the body shop for an estimate but according to my insurance agent I should be covered save for a $100 deductible. It may seem like bad luck that the Passat has once again suffered major trauma but surprisingly the vehicle is still functional. With the exception of a busted passenger side mirror everything works including both the headlight and turn signal which have busted lens covers. Despite the oil leaks and frequent component failure this car is a tank. It has never left me stranded on the side of the road.
